A Spell for the New Year

Two things can be true.
2025 was both wonderful AND devastating.
I feel as disappointed in as I am proud of the ADHD witchcrafter
As a late-diagnosed AuDHD woman I often struggled with radical acceptance - that you can hold 2 truths at the same time - that just because a parent failed to give you the love you needed that doesn't mean they didn't love you the best way they knew how -
that ADHD is my superpower and ALSO my disability.
I hope that in the new year you remember that you are not lazy, or stupid, or broken. You are MAGIC.
But that doesn't mean you aren't hurting; it doesn't mean you can't be angry at the hand you've been dealt. I've been there. I'm STILL there. Every time there's a slight change in someone's tone I wonder if they hate me. Every time I go to grab my phone and realize I don't remember where I last had it... for the fifth time in the last hour. Earlier this year I broke down sobbing because, for the 6th time in as many minutes, I had walked into my bedroom for a very specific reason and forgot that reason as soon as I passed the threshold. Eventually, I remembered and I hated myself for how insignificant it was.
All this to say that I am here with you, holding your hand (if you'll allow), and reminding you that you're not alone. And if you need a more solid reminder please print out or write down this spell and keep it with you for whenever the need arises to use it.
Recommendation: Hold a sprig of rosemary in your non-dominant hand. Whisper lines 1-6, then at normal speaking volume for lines 7-10. But, as always, the choice is yours. One way isn't superior to another.
Through every laugh and every tear
I will not hide, I shall not fear
For fairies call and sirens sing
And I take flight on raven's wing
When caught in bramble, pricked by thorn
I say the words by which I'm sworn
Hold space, stand tall
and rise as many times as fall
Hear my words and mark them down
I was born to wear a crown
You deserve magic that meets you where you are.
I'll see you in the new year,
Sammy,
the ADHD witchcrafter
